Happy Mother’s Day from Securemama

Posted on May 12th, by Cathy Olsen in Securemama Site. No Comments

Happy Mother's day to all of you mothers out there that have discovered my blog. I hope that your day is full of love and appreciation for all that you do.

I LOVE Mother's day. Some people feel guilty because they compare themselves to other mom's and they feel they don't measure up. Others get upset because they do not get the appreciation they feel they deserve …

I feel grateful for the chance that I have to be a mother and to be able to raise such cute kids. I am grateful for my own mother and for all of those other mother's out there who are such great examples to me.

So, enjoy this weekend! Plant some flowers! Go shopping! Read a book! Do something that you enjoy but just can't find the time with all of your motherly responsibilities. That's … Read More »

Today is the First Day of the Rest of my Life!

Posted on January 27th, by Cathy Olsen in Securemama Site. No Comments

So, I did it!  I started a website to share an idea that I have been beating around in my head for a few months “A mother's guide to securing her virtual world.” The original idea was to write a book.  And it was going to be a GREAT book.. however, I'd have to actually 'write' it.  It felt a overdue English paper every time I thought about it.  So … I am choosing a format that is much more suited to my personality .. free form, instant gratification… and ONLINE.

I am glad that I got my site up and running in one day … the consequences: It is 4:30 PM, I am still in my pajamas, and my son has redecorated the hall with stickers.  Ah well… you win some, you lose some.

I will try and update this site … Read More »

Why Should We Care?

Posted on January 13th, by Cathy Olsen in Securemama Site. 1 Comment

The world is a different place from when we grew up.

When I grew up, there was a phone cord.   You had to physically sit by the phone or get a ridiculously long phone cord for any kind of privacy. Also, when I grew up, there was a real possibility that someone could be ease dropping on your conversations.  When I grew up, If your friend wanted to talk to you, they would have to call the 'home phone' or physically walk to your house.  When I grew up, you had to go to the library to write a research report. (I'm starting to sound like Grandpa Simpson)

However, today it is so much easier to access information and communicate with people.  There are advantages and disadvantages to this.

There seems to be this virtual world that is every much as part of … Read More »
